Kane Hodder, who played the part of Jason Voorhees in the last four Friday the 13th movies offered to reprise the role for this film, but was turned down for the part because New Line Cinema wanted a taller Jason. Hodder a BT. Get over yourself. He thinks hes this God of a person why because you played Jason 4 times. He was no better than any of the other JasonS actors. Hate to break it to you but you came late to the Friday the 13th series. Enough. Even when I met this guy at Comic con NYC he was a jerkoff.

Really? When I met him he was really nice. And when I couldn't make it to a con 2 years later he asked my sister to call me personally so he could talk to me. Super decent guy. You may have caught him on a bad day, 'cause that sounds nothing like the guy I met.

By most (if not all) accounts Kane Hodder is a nice guy. I think it's a damn shame they didn't get him for this movie considering they had Robert Englund. Kane Hodder is the closest thing to continuity the Friday the 13th series ever had, there's not even been another actor who's played Jason twice.

From all the stories I've heard, Kane seems to be a good guy. But imagine this. Let's say you just got offed back a job you love doing, and you've already done it four times. You're exicted as hell, since you'll be going up against another villan. It's highly ancipated. But then, you get a phone call. You answer that call, and it's New Line. They say "oh hey, remember how you were gonna play Jason again? Well, beep that we got someone taller so you're out!" And he never got to play that role again. I'd be pretty pissed too.

He was no better than any of the other JasonS actors.
Yes, he was. For one thing, Hodder has a naturally wide head which fills out the Ken Tarallo mask better than the other Jason actors, and broad/square/high shoulders. Look at the size of Hodder's head compared to Derek Mears in this picture:

And look at his shoulders; they are so high he barely has any height to his thick neck, and they are very square. Hodder has a freaky build/anatomy; perfect for playing Jason. What they tried to do with hokey-looking shoulder and neck padding for Richard Brooker in part 3, Hodder has naturally. Everyone else just looked like some guy in a mask, but Hodder seemed like he
was
Jason.
Additionally, the way Hodder walks and moves in the role is perfect. And when combined with the way they filmed him in part 7, along with the makeup effects, and the most intimidating-looking mask of the series, you get a Jason portrayal that will never be matched, much less exceeded. Not even Hodder's Jason in the other three movies could hold a candle to part 7 Jason, though they were better than anyone else's Jason, especially Ken Kirzinger's (his being the worst version of Jason to wear a hockey mask).
Kirzinger is vaguely shaped like a pear; has a long, relatively small neck, relatively small head, and low, sloping shoulders. On top of that, they gave him a ridiculous-looking mask, which looked like one of the countless not-so-good examples of fan-made masks.
Hodder's vs. Kirzinger's Jason:

Check out Kirzinger's roundish torso; sloping shoulders; long, thin neck; small head; and hilarious, malformed, too-flat, oversized, doesn't-fit-his-head, dime-store mask complete with giant eye openings for that "deer in the headlights" look.
On the other hand, Hodder's build and mask (which came from the original mold that Ken Tarallo made for part 3) look intimidating rather than comical.
I don't dance, tell jokes or wear my pants too tight, but I do know about a thousand songs. -

Hodder didn't just have the body and body language, he could EMOTE with his entire body and eyes. Pain, anger, frustrationrage! The way Kane stood, and even breathed in some scenes, so fiercely, showed so much range. He understood that he had to use his eyes and body to tell Jason's story, since he couldn't speak. He did more with his non speaking role than most actors can do with pages of dialog.
