I'm watching the original Friday the 13th right now and noticed something. When the trucker drops off Annie towards the beginning of the movie, it's right in front of a cemetery. The cemetery's sign reads "Hope, NJ". This places Camp Crystal Lake somewhere close to that in New Jersey. I've read people argue that the NJ license plates on cars can't be definitive proof of Crystal Lake's location, but a cemetery sign seems to make that more concrete.
Now to Freddy vs. Jason. Freddy brings Jason back to life at Crystal Lake right? How could Jason have walked all the way to Springwood, Ohio to kill teens for Freddy? It's like an 8 hour drive between states. What's worse is that Lori and her friends somehow make thar 8 hour car ride in record tine right before the big showdown at the end.
These kinds of continuity errors between movies bug me. -

a valid point however my thought is this, in Jason goes to Hell you see Jason swallowed into the Earth, with Freddy's glove grabbing the hockey mask. Now if we consider that Hell is an abstract then when Freddy caused Jason to revive he would arguably have him rise anywhere. It is a stretch and I am not saying it is correct, but it is the only idea that makes the most sense as there were no other murders before Jason was on Elm St.

This was addressed in a recent article. Due to the time constraints they couldn't very well show both trips in real time. The original movie had a lot of scenes cut too. The movie would've been 2 hours long with them.

I think the continuity changes a little bit.. In this movie Springwood doesn't seem far from Crystal Lake I mean they drove Jason from Springwood to Crystal like in like NO TIME. Possible according to the continuity of THIS movie, perhaps Crystal Lake is also in Ohio.

Both Jason and Freddy walked all the way to Vancouver, Canada. The entire Friday the 13th universe takes place in NJ, but as the sequels continue, the lake gets smaller and smaller until it looks like a puddle with mud, until Jason Takes Manhattan, in which Crystal Lake suddenly has an inlet into the Atlantic Ocean and New York harbor. Any future productions should go back to New Jersey, as the tax breaks in America are now equal to Canada.

Ahhh. Good point. I knew Springwood was supposed to be in Ohio, but I never really knew where Crystal Lake was supposed to be.
But as someone who used to live in Toledo, Ohio, New Jersey is not a short drive away, obviously.
