Not impressed (spoilers, I guess)

This was like a Japanese Dark Shadows; very low quality filming, bad acting (REALLY bad), no score where it felt like it would have helped.
And what the hell was going on the whole time???
What happened to that girl with the jaw missing how did she end up like that? What happened to her brother? What happened to her mom after she saw her?
Who was that girl being stalked at the school? Why was she being stalked? What happened to her?
What was the deal with the cats?
Why was the boy not a ghost when the teacher came to his house, but a ghost later? When did he become a ghost?
Why did the teacher's wife become a ghost? I thought she was killed by that crazy guy in the phone booth. If she was, then why did she come after her husband and not her killer? Are we meant to believe that
every
crime of violence results in a vengeful ghost?
I can't believe that all these questions (and more) are answered in Ju-on 2; especially since I've heard that it's shorter, due to overlapping content.
Maybe it was ground-breaking in Japan when it came out, but it definitely didn't live up to all the hype it's received since then. I just don't see what's so great about this. Are the others in the series any good, or more of the same? -

I totally agree. I pretty much asked all these questions myself while I was watching. I actually just got done watching it and don't understand all the hype surrounding it. It was extremely confusing, and I normally don't mind movies that have timelines out of order. But this one just didn't make any sense at all. I will say it was better than the crappy remake 'The Grudge' but at least that movie I understood. This one may have been creepier, but it still wasn't as scary as everyone told me it was and it made way less sense.

This is the only Ju-on movie I've seen so far. At first I thought it had no rhyme or reason whatsoever. After mulling it over I decided there is a sort of logic behind it all but I wish the director had put more thought into how to tie the events together. When the film ended, I felt more confused than scared.

so, does this answer all of your extremely obvious questions?
You're answering these questions using information from films that were made later in the series. If you've watched just the first made-for-video version, a lot of those questions are unanswered. The cat/boy thing is inexplicable.
I think the director came up with some good images but his storytelling (at least in this first film) leaves a lot to be desired. -

Referencing other films actually validates my point. Many of the answers were not in this film, as I clearly stated.
are you stupid?
the girl being stalked at the school was mizuho, the brother's girlfriend who the two girls were on about
Was that English? Because it didn't make much sense. I'm just sayin'
she dies, we never find out how
Well, THAT clears things up. (???)
the family had a pet cat who was killed.
How?
the cat was toshio's whole world, he loved it more than anything
Where was that in this film?
it got brought back as a ghost.
What? How?? WHY???
he could make himself appear human and talk like a human, as he does in almost every grudge film
Irrelevant reference. I never saw any of them, due to the fact that this one was so bad.
so, does this answer all of your extremely obvious questions?
Extremely obvious questions? That doesn't make sense. I'm glad my questions were obvious, but I think you were trying to say that the
answers
were obvious.
and i aint the smartest person in the world
Well said. I agree.
japanese horror isnt for you
Condescending and judgmental. Nice combination. Are you lonely, or have you managed to find an entourage of mentally inferior subjects to feed your ego? -

Alright, alright. Sorry for the joust; it's nothing personal.
That's cool that you followed it WAY more than I could. I just couldn't get into this I guess, but I respect that it's your favorite Asian horror.
Each to their own, pal.
Cheers
