It feels so amateurish now, and Bill Murray is terrible.

Couldn't disagree more. The film still holds up well.

Wow. I just felt the opposite. I watched it today after first seeing it in the theater and I actually got more out of it this time. I appreciated Bill's character more and thought more of Charlotte. Their relationship was totally believable.

It hasn't aged one bit and Murray is terrific, which has has been in serious roles.

At least Murray was great in
                  some
things (Ghostbusters, Groundhog Day, Stripes); she sucks in everything she's ever done.

Quite the opposite this film holds up perfectly well. One of the best films ever made in my opinion.

Absolutely. If anything, it's MORE timely than ever with the proliferation of the internet, cell phones and superficial social media interactions leading to ever greater feelings of isolation and lack of genuine human contact among large numbers of people.
                        It's incredibly poignant.

Cannot see how it has "aged." It's not set in a particular time, and if anything it appeals to themes that are even more dominant now with cross-cultural experiences.
                          Bill Murray is genius here.

and that, my liege, is how we know the Earth to be banana shaped.

Yes, all films age in some fashion.
                              Lost in Translation
however has aged beautifully and doesn't appear 'dated' unlike plenty of other films (particularly CGI heavy blockbusters set in western cities).
I think this is mainly down to the theme, story and characters being so timeless and universal (if anything even more relevant today). This in combination with the visuals and Japanese setting muddling what time it is set in. Obviously they don't use Smartphones etc which is pretty much the only thing dated about this film.
In my opinion it still holds up perfectly today.

Why the hell does it matter how well it aged? It not wine, it's a beep movie! A great one, at that. Take that silver spoon out of your ass.
