I detect a certain lack of empathy, common in fundamentalist Christians. Your line and the OP's are not exactly equivalent to me - the OP used strong language in reference to Christ, which I know you may find offensive, but I'm not generally offended by swearing, I understand the context (gruelling torture, although I haven't seen the film) and as an atheist don't regard Christ as sacrosanct. I'm comfortable with describing Jesus as a human being, who bled, sweat, sneezed, crapped, jerked off a lot in his early teens, and everything else a person does throughout their life. Since I think he was human, not divine.
YOUR line, though, I found to be somewhat trite, although with the nature of your other posts and serious tone, I suspect you may actually mean what you said, which is simply disturbing

Simple answer really. You take offense because you were told to take offense. Cuss words are only so because people say they are.
After all, it wasn't long ago words like Shenanigans was considered a cuss word. Over time "f@gs" evolved into a cuss word despite it not originally being oneand still it depends on society and meaning.
