This movie would have been so much better if it didn't have a PG 13 rating. Now I don't have a set against PG 13 movies, in fact some of my favourite movies are PG 13, such as indiana jones and the Bourne movies. However the character of john McClean is one that isn't afraid of telling things as it is or speaking his mind. I felt this rating had a negative impact on the movie

Watch the unrated version. It is more in tone with the McClane character and makes an ok at best movie a good one.

I think I've only ever watched the unrated version, but I like the movie as it is. It's not as good as the first three films, so I don't know if more swearing and gore would have changed that.
