        Acronym
        "WAG" is also an acronym for "wives and girlfriends" of athletes and other male celebrities. The term originated in England's tabloids, with one of the first references appearing in The Telegraph in 2002. Similar terms include "RAGs" for "royals and girlfriends" and "C-WAGs" for "cricket wives and girlfriends"
