And the widest release was 20 screens in the whole country!
That's ridiculous and close to a boycott.
That explains a lot, why it had absolutely no chance in the US.
That's really sad, because if you watch it open-minded and without prejudice, it's really deep and powerful. And it's getting better each time you watch it again, because it's almost imposible to grasp everything and understand the ingenious connections and allusions at the first time.
Maybe one has to accustom to the unusual scenery, but the screenplay deserves an Oscar! Only Christopher Nolan has that kind of talent for such intelligent screenplays (of course his visual style is totally different).
Crazy idea: I want to see a screenplay by Lars von Trier made into a film by Christopher Nolan
