why didnt nicole do manderlay?

I was watching the extra material on dogville where nicole kidman says several times that she will come back and do the other two movies
does anyone know why she didnt? -

I saw somewhere that she was busy with the Stepford Wives remake, and von Trier couldnt wait to get started on Manderlay. So he chose another Grace for this movie. Now Ive got nothing against Howard, I just think that Kidman was a better Grace, and the continuity of the films was shot. I also heard that in Washington (#3 of the USA trilogy expected to be due out in 2008) Kidman and Howard are rumored to be playing sisters. I hope Kidman plays Grace

Nicole Kidman was intended to star in Manderlay as well as Washington, but pulled out of the project in July 2003 due to conflicting schedules..
this is what this movie trivia says so ..i was kinda happy because i personally think that Kidman is not a good actress and she didn't play her role in Dogville rightly neither ..
i haven't seen Manderlay yet and i hope that Bryce would've done it better.

The bonus section of the DVD shows the actors talking privately to a camera throughout filming. A lot of them seemed intimidated by lars. Nicole in particular, she was overacting the innocent little girl and being really quite creepy.
I don't think she will work with him again, he didn't seem to kiss the actors arses like other directors do. -

i thought the same thing! i loved caan's red bull endorsment but i really want to know what stellan skarsgard says (i don't speak a word of swedish) i can't tell if he's ranting or not!
kidman or howard for wasington?
