"That's not really a disguise."
It is in the sense of camouflage.
"And according to that definition, Superman 1 is disaster porn."
Wrong. "Superman 1" may have featured scenes of disaster, but a lot of those were fixed by Superman. The destruction of Krypton was actually horrifying in its imagery with its hellish red lighting and people falling, as it evoked church frescoes of the Apocalypse where the damned were sent to hell. There was humanity in that movie. "MOS" is a different matter altogether, as the destruction and human casualties in that movie
dwarfs
anything done in the Richard Donner films, treating the former as frivolous spectacle to be oohed and awed at with no sense of horror and total disregard for the latter.
"And where was the super villain?"
It had an antagonist in the form of Lex Luthor. Not all superhero stories has to be about punching the bad guy, you dumb $hit.
"Well, were the explosions in those scenes?"
Dear oh dear, you still haven't been paying attention, I see. You really need to get your eyes checked, son. Did you forget about the scenes with Zod blasting his way into Council Chambers, or the scenes with Jor-El fighting his way out, with all the destruction going on outside? Or Zod's ship chasing after Jor-El's Avatar dragonfly thing in the midst of a collapsing and exploding vessel? Zod blasting into Jor-El's home, where he fights Jor-El himself? From start to finish it was action, more action, explosions and more explosions.
"No, they didn't give him a chance. Maybe if Superman had the Justice League with him, he might have been able to do but the collateral damage was simply unavoidable."
He didn't make any effort at all. -

I wouldn't bother arguing with Jason. This guy claims Martha had nothing to do with why Batman and Superman stopped fighting. When I pointed him to a Zack Snyder interview in which Zack confirmed it was because of Martha and explained why it was important. Jason claimed that Zack lied to the press because of the backlash.

Given that I had no idea about the stuff he mentioned regarding you and your disputes about the Martha thing until now, yeaaah, he's definitely not a sock account.
Oh because you claim to not know what he's talking about it must be true, right?
Cuz nobody ever lies. Sarcasm.
I don't give a f*@K about a troll who doesn't pay for his opinion telling me how to review movies. -

I'm not lying. I don't even know what the two of you discussed. The only thing I know with certainty is that you're a half-wit with no education or knowledge of film history. Actually, that would be an insult to half-wits, as you have nothing that could be called "wit". -

Translation: "Wah! Jason Rebourne's argument is stronger than mine! I know, I'll throw petty insults at him! That'll show him!"
I don't care about a troll who doesn't pay for his opinion telling me how to review movies. -

I agree Superman 1 is one of the best but Superman Returns is probably my least favorite Superman film.
Man of Steel however i liked very much, it was different and started down it's own path, Returns problem is he was a slave to the originals, it wanted to be a sequel but it
shat
all over it.
I have a lot more run with 3 and 4 and Supergirl. At least they kept the spirit if the first two and doesn't contradict it's own sotryline/time line.
Superman 2 Donner cut on the overhand is rank, the sooner they edit the two version to make an ultimate version the better. -

"MOS" was a soulless remake of "Superman 1" and "2" with nothing to make it stand out, taking from other movies with nothing to distinguish itself. Even the scene with Clark slamming Zod into a satellite dish was taken from the "Green Lantern" movie. "Returns" didn't beep all over the originals - that was the Salkinds' efforts with "3", "4" and "Supergirl". It was both a sequel and a reboot, taking bits and pieces from the previous Donner movies but not being bound directly to "canon", paying homage not only to the Donner movies but also the Superman character in general, be it the comics, the 1940s movies, the cartoons and so on.
