That scene always struck me as being a bit out of place, in the sense that it was the one moment in the movie where it seemed like Ryan Reynolds genuinely showed an empathetic side. When he says "I like you too sir", seemed like he meant it.
Anyone else feel the same?

I think he did, it'd be hard not to like the unapologetically honest old guy who admits he goes against established social norms just for the fun of it. It's what Monty does after all.
