Did people get dumber as civilisation grew?

How many times in these cowboy films/TV shows do you see some toothless country bumpkin type use long and fancy words almost every sentence? Pretty much all of them do. Mpost people spoke in an educated manner back then despite there being hardly any ****ing education.
These days people not only do not use long fancy words, they actually make SHORT WORDS EVEN SHORTER in text form, coz we stoopid and lazy.
We should be more like our cowboy forefathers -

No, I want to eat American food and drink American coffee, but i am happy not being bankrupt by the medical sector for the crime of simply falling ill or getting shot in a country that sells guns like any other simple comodity lol.
