There is definitely a lot of adult content. Lots of swearing and a fair amount of nudity. There is some violence, but it isn't really severe. I think it depends on how you raise your children. Many people will tell you that Deadwood is not appropriate for a 10 year old. Personally, I would allow my 10 year old to watch with supervision, but I have a feeling I would be in the minority.
That being said, the constant dialogue might be difficult for him to understand. It is almost Shakespearean. Because of that, I am not sure how interested most 10 Year olds would be to watch it.

No!
Not unless you are extremely lenient regarding profuse profanity and some nudity. Also violence. Lots of violence.
Why don't you try The Magnificent Seven TV series until he gets a lot older. Like high school. -

In my opinion, absolutely not. It's more than nudity, it's graphic sex acts and dialogue. It's a man literally motorboating a woman's naked breasts as she laughs. It's Swear engender beating Trixie til she bleeds and then pushing her head down and telling her to shut up.and suck his c*ck.

I wouldn't advise it. I personally feel the violence is too graphic for a ten year old. Also, there's pretty explicit sexual content. As said below though, I don't think a ten year old would find this show all that interesting, due to the Shakespearean language used. They'd likely find it difficult to follow.

I think every kid is different. My son is fourteen, and I can't quite remember when we first watched the show, but he definitely saw it top-to-bottom within the past few years.
Frankly, for every possible strike against it, I think there's a pretty strong case that it could be considered beneficial. I mean, the dialogue is so lyrically profane and challenging that even to understand what's being said requires concentration and intellectual inquiry. -

The answer is no. It is not safe for any 10-year son to watch Deadwood. Now when I was 10, my Dad & I watched Die Hard (1988) together & he was there to provide context and explain that it was a fantasy for entertainment purposes. I've been watching R rated movies & tv shows ever since. I have 2 kids who I am raising as a stay-at-home Dad while my Wife wins bread. The Wife & I watch Deadwood together (when I am not at National Guard Drill) and we just love the show. Deadwood depicts prostitution, murder, graphic violence, whores spitting out come, racism, foul language, gambling, hogs eating dead bodies, etc. In capturing the old west circa 1876, there is a murky quality that is just too much for any 10-year old son. The dialogue is difficult to understand and we watch the show with the subtitles on. The show is brilliant, but for adults. It is challenging and a viewer needs to be intelligent to enjoy the show. "Dumb" viewers would not understand the show. If my son was emotionally healthy & I had confidence in him, the earliest age would be 17-years old if he was curious about Deadwood. My wife even agrees with that.
