oh please, this movie actually made bears seems so understadable. This is not the film to attack. It did not in the least bit try to portray bears other than anything that they already are wild animals.

It seems like the original poster did not watch the film at all. The reality is that grizzlies DO maul people, especially if food or offspring are involved. The film gives exact justification for what the bear has done, the characters are sympathetic to the bear's plight, the negative but not overdone portrayal of the zoo is typical of such low-budget facilities, and all the portrayals of grizzly bahavior are exactly right. I am a wildlife biologist and experienced mountaineer.

I thought the bear was realistically portrayed, as natural as one would be in the wild. They explained that the bear was startled while eating when he mauled Mitch. Plus I thought it was "nice" of the bear to not attack Mitch the second time, since he did not pose a threat. He certainly was not a monster in this movie, only a part of nature.

Some others have said it, The original poster did not watch the movie at all, either that or he's one dumbsunuvabitch. The bear wasn't a monster at all, he was just a bear. The special features on the dvd help explain this the director even said, "I didn't want the bear to play a monster, or mother nature's rath, or anything.just a bear surviving in the wild".

If you are referring to this movie then you're talking out of your ass. The bear in "An Unfinished Life" is not demonized in any way. You would know if you had seen it. Freemans character even says that he didn't blame the bear for mauling him beacuse it was their own fault that they were attacked.

That's Hollywood. Always portraying something incorrectly.
Most of the time when animals attack people, it cos the people are goin' places they have no business goin'. I always root for the animal. -

Let's be honest here, people.
Bears are mindless killing machines! I mean, why not put on a blindfold and hold a newborn baby out in front of an adult bear and see what happens if they're such warm fuzy creatures.
Bears are
NOT
pets! They are
NOT
like cats and dogs. They are
NOT
misunderstood gentle giants that are fun to play with and take for a nice walk in the park.
Bears are evil, godless creatures and must be treated as such!

I live in the same town in Wyoming as Mark Spragg ( the writter of "An Unfinished Life"). And grizzly bears DO maul people quite often. I've seen the effects of it, and it's in the news around here ALL the time. If you get close to their young or food, they will not hesitate to kill you. Like the previous person said, the man in "Grizzly Man," he got killed because he thought bears were "nice animals." What a dumbass.

Bears aren't being killed because they are being portrayed as monsters in the movies. Any of the many movies that have had Bart or Little Bart have done legions for the understanding of bears.
Bears are being killed because there are a lot of ignorant folks who think it is really cool to kill such a big and wild animal. Lots of men with little members!
