Muslim Ban Has Nothing to Do with Terrorism or Safety

It is hard to find people more against Islam than I am, but this "Muslim Ban" has nothing to do with keeping America safe or even preventing terrorist attacks.
Any sane intelligence professional knows that ISIS (or an equivalent terrorist group) would not pin its hopes of a U.S. terrorist attack on whether a two-years vetted Syrian refugee can get into America or not. And most of these people are fleeing ISIS in the first place. I'm not saying EVERY Syrian refugee is a moderatepetty crimes/harassing women in Germany prove that some are a bad element, but not necessarily a terrorist element.
The much smarter option for a terrorist group is to encourage people already inside the United States as we've seen in countless "lone wolf" attacks, which are about the only successful U.S. terrorist attacks in a post-911 landscape. [And of course this type of "lone wolf" attack will now find its "reason" for existing IN the Muslim banas people looking to commit violence have used drone attacks previously.]
What Trump is doing right now has nothing to do with security, and everything to do with: 1. A smoke and mirrors show to distract people from some of the things Bill mentioned in last night's show. I mean, how else can he still pretend to be an economic populist if people are actually paying attention to his blow-jobbing of the 1%? 2. A red-meat victory for his base.
The overwhelming majority of Trump's base are not Bernie Sanders-style economic populists and they don't care about dumping toxic sludge in lakes OR repealing Dodd Frank protections OR getting rid of Fiduciary rules. All they really and truly care about is immigrationspecifically keeping Muslims and Mexicans out of America, and keeping America from becoming a minority-majority country. They're voting primarily to keep Latinos from outnumbering white people and Muslims as small a minority as possible (unlike Europe), and they love this 7-countries immigration ban.
It's a sign to his voters that he hasn't forgotten what they really care aboutand that's it.
