What if Trump succeeds?

Remember the skit on SNL when Trump was the host November 2015, he was in the oval office as president and had solved all the nation's most serious problems pretty funny, right? But what if Trump does succeed, what if he turns out to be wildly successful? Will Bill still hate him and ridicule him as he does now?
I think it depends on how long Bill's show continues to run. If it is for 4 more years I think we will witness one of the most amazing transformations in tv political satire and commentary that you will ever see. I believe even Maher, who is at times brilliant and insightful, has no idea how corrupt and dysfunctional DC is and how serious and entrenched the problems are.
Right now, he thinks Trump's agenda is the biggest problem, but it isn't. Washington is the most hateful, most divisive, most elitist, most wasteful, most corrupt and unimaginative governmental body on Earth. They know nothing, they care about nothing, they improve nothing, but Trump just got there and he is not one of them.
Bill thinks he is ready for the fight of his life, "he's still here" and all that. But he's wrong. What will happen is that over the next few years, Bill will change, he will come to know what's really wrong with Washington and what to do about it. He and the Dems and the Hollywood elite think it's about a war on Trump Trump the home wrecker. But it isn't about Trump, and I think Bill, deep down, is smart enough and open enough to eventually see the truth and turn his rage to the right direction. -

Of course Trump will succeed no matter what happens - in his mind, and in the mind of all those who support him. So this is really just a dumb thought exercise.
I'm sorry I didn't think I would have time to respond, but I wanted to in greater detail. Until I read this again:

So it turns out I don't have the time.

That's what they're really terrified about. Dems running around, acting like Chicken Little and screaming that the sky is falling. That he shouldn't have access to nuclear codes, how he's going to take the country to war/recession, take away rights, favor the wealthy, screw the poor, etc., etc. is a smokescreen. They WANT him to do all that so that they can try to embolden themselves next election cycle.
What they're sh!tting in their pants over is the idea that Trump (with all his brash and "offensive" traits still in tact) will actually do a decent/good job. Because then, he'll co-opt even more supporters to his side and make the silly social issues and emotional liberal/PC rhetoric that they use to manipulate people and thrive with seem insignificant. If Trump manages to boost the job market, people will shrug at "Grab 'em by the p#ssy" and dismiss hyper-emotional Obama-era SJW catchphrases like "check your privilege." THAT terrifies them. They're scared to death that Trump will shift the sociopolitical climate from hysterical hipster back to unapologetic nationalist.
And the truly hilarious part is that BECAUSE the left has gone so far out of it's way to act like Trump will be an hysterical disaster, they've set the bar very low for him to be deemed a success. All he really has to do is not start a war or crash the economy, and his administration will look triumphant. This left played themselves like Elmer Fudd in a battle against Bugs Bunny. Every time they try to stomp Trump, he sticks a carrot in the barrow of their gun or twists it around so that they shoot themselves instead. -

You are absolutely correct.
Unfortunately, the ramifications of the DOTUS's actions will not be fully felt until after he is out of office.

Trump the home wrecker.
THE HOME WRECKER????
If only Trump would stick with just wrecking homes.
but Trump just got there and he is not one of them.
He just got there and yet he's already caused so much "FUN".
Washington is the most hateful, most divisive, most elitist, most wasteful, most corrupt and unimaginative government on Earth.
And so Trump's supporters wanted to throw a bomb into Washington and blow it up. The problem is the bomb (Trump) that they threw is a NUCLEAR BOMB.
And thus comes the long, terrible nuclear winter for all of us that manage to survive the nuclear blast.
But what if Trump does succeed, what if he turns out to be wildly successful?
AND WHAT IF A TORNADO PICKS UP MY HOUSE (with me trapped in it), AND CARRIES ME AND MY HOUSE OVER THE RAINBOW, PLOPPING US DOWN ON A WICKED WITCH, KILLING HER????
Which frankly is a lot more likely to happen than your scenario.
But Trump just got there, and he is not one of them.
No he isn't. By his own proud admission he is the one who corrupts them. -

Whether Bill's show lasts or not is not an issue if trump succeeds.
He has detailed his hatred for every aspect of the first amendment: no free speech, right to assemble, freedom of religionthe things that really make us America. But, that's not a huge problem considering
He wants to deregulatethis takes two tracks:
the economy collapses again for all but the 1% who get insanely wealthier and
the environment, well we don't have to worry about global warming making the planet uninhabitable, because much quicker than that we won't have clean air or water.
There's a lot of other harmful ways his success hurts millions of people, but long posts are boring. -

I think he will succeed, but the left will never admit it. We've seen the reaction on both of Bill's shows this season.
Trump has made some disgusting remarks in the past and for some people they'll never move past them. That's the post-social media society we live in.
But as far as getting the debt under control, keeping our country safe and getting people back to meaningful employment, he has a real shot to do so. -

Succeeds at what? If he improves the economy and keeps America safe, I will support him. Some people won't, but many people never gave Obama credit for improving the economy, which is a hell of a lot better now than when took over in 2009. And while there is plenty of room for improvement in Obama's foreign policy,it was NO WORSE than that of his predecessor.
On the other hand, if Trump "succeeds" at shamelessly scapegoating innocent Muslims, building stupid walls, destroying free trade, and generally ramming his agenda down the throats of the 54 percent of America that didn't vote for him, I won't support him, but neither will AMERICA. It is really a fluke he even got elected but if he BUILDS support like Reagan and even George W. Bush did for awhile after 9/11, he might not be unsuccessful, But he can't afford to NOT build any new support because all presidents lose some support when they actually have to govern. A lot of liberals who were enthusiastic about how Obama would change everything were disappointed by REALITY by 2012.
It is hilarious how you think TRUMP is going to make Washington less corrupt and divisive. He himself has all kinds of highly questionable entanglements and conflicts of interest. And he is EXTREMELY divisive by nature. The right needs to give up this fantasy that some incompetent rube is going to come in and "clean up Washington", but this rube isn't exactly Mr. Clean himself and has already divided the electorate more than any president I've ever seen. I hope he DOES succeed in being competent president, but that's already looking like a long-shot in REALITY, and some buyer's remorse may even seep into right-wing fantasyland sooner or later.

Thanks for the responses.
My post was just a comment about Bill being smart enough to end up liking Trump if Trump succeeds. I do think that could happen. I think Trump may succeed beyond anyone's imagination, and I do think Bill will come around, eventually.
What constitutes success is a complex thing because it means different things to different people. I think it's obvious what success for American citizens means. -

Trump has ALREADY succeeded! He turned a Hillary Clinton 350 electoral vote LANDSLIDE into a smaller 300+ electoral LANDSLIDE for TRUMP! That's a 250 electoral vote swing!
Not only that but his supporters are very happy with him, Dems are LOST, have NO leader, & are in full blown PANIC!!
Trump knows business and had a very business savvy cabinet. Trump also has connections all over the world. He will succeed to some extent after 4 years.

Winning one election is not "success." He needs to "make America great again." Except he never defined what that actually meant, so troglodytes like you will be able to say "HE SUCCEEDED" no matter what happens.
