It was supposed to exaggerate the miraculous nature, the virgin not only gave birth, but bore children of both races.
I saw it as saying this was an immaculate conception and all people, regardless of the petty differences we use to divide ourselves, are all children of the Higher Power.
SciFi-for those who understand the space outside the box is less crowded.

What it really means, is that when it comes to genome, a genetic scientist can alter the gene to have one baby white and one black. Those experiments have already been done.
