Dear Folks,
This writer considers this to be a superb film!
Angela Bettis gives a great performance in a film that truly draws the viewer in to what has been called a jigsaw puzzle story that Miss Bettis figures out the goings on in her mysterious building bit by bit.
The killer in this film is worth his weight since he proves to be a great
supernatural menace.
But Angela Bettis deserves special recognition because her role is the glue that holds this fascinating chiller together .Angela Bettis finds out piece by piece about the terrible truths of the killer's existence from the very beginning.This is a superb film not to be missed by true horror fans and buffs.
It's more than just a mere horror film because as Miss Bettis's character is drawn into her investigation.we are too.Angela Bettis is really Good in this film and what her character discovers as a resident in this strange building is fascinating!You will be drawn into this film and watch it to it's very end because it's what a Good chiller should be.

It was pretty average.kinda lackluster kinda slow, dull characters a couple of decent death scenes.there is nothing particularly dreadful about it.but nothing particularly great either.if you wanna see it go ahead because there are worse films.but certainly much better it did kinda bore me and only gets mildly entertaining in the last half hour

I'm not gonna do some massice critique but yeah, its a good movie, has three actresses in it i've always liked; Angela Bettis, Juliet Landau and Sheri Moon (though Sheri Moon is only in the first ten minutes or so). I wouldn't say its the greatest movie of all time but yeah, definately worth watching, its a good story and the acting is good too, i bought the dvd a few weeks back (mostly coz of my love of the actresses in it) but yeah, its good, i recommend it (oh and to any of those prissy little nerds out there that want to critisize anything i've written here by pointing out typos, inaccurate grammar or whatever, i REALLY don't give a beep and it doesn't change anything about the film, i just don't go all out when it come to posting replies on imdb.com chill guys chill.
conclusion: watch it.
i liked Dollface. i'm glad she lived. hot. -

If you are a diehard horror fan it may be worthwhile. If only because you will be watching a true horror flick, not one of those PG-13 pseudo-horror flicks that lately Hollywood have produced by the dozens.
Anyway truth is, this remake is an unremarkable genre movie, it's just an average slasher flick, derivative and clichd. Nothing that you haven't seen before and better.

I'll chime in too, five years after your initial question.
For them what's wondering, yeah, watch it. There's some good comedy, good characterization, and the supernatural angle is definitely reminiscent of TCM, yet its pretty original too. This is not torture porn, but its not too serious either.
Watch it - it will deliver. -

I thought it was excellent and kind of Argentoish. If you're a fan of films like Suspiria, Inferno, Phenomena, etc., you do not need your hand held so that every possibility in a film is spelled out to you in forensic detail (which should follow if you're a fan of the films I mentioned), and you like to make up your own mind rather than following the crowd, you might dig it.
