i was really impressed by the movie and it made me question why tobe doesnt do more movies. but who the heck is the killer? byron just says he was born out of death and thats about it. is he lusman? why does he scream in that one scene and have to shot up with that needle? and i know a you folks are going to tell me to watch the original or the deleted scenes but i allready returned the movie so could you just tell me. and did anyone else think they should make a movie about the hotel's glory days as an occult hangout for the golden era movie stars? the hotel should get it own movie is all im saying. and what real events was it based on? and did we really land on the moon? whats the meaning of life and what are these little hairs growing in around my peter?
please help someone im running out of queries.

I am guessing the killer is the guy who built the house and he created all those symbols to help keep him alive with voodoo and killing and stuff. I dunno I thought the death scenes were pretty good so I didn't worry about the story too much.

SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YES, I was wondering all of the same things after watching this movie (well minus the little hairs growing out of my peter part!). Can someone please tell me if there are any deleted scenes that explain this or are we suppose to just draw our on conclusions (which is not really relevant if we don't even have a story foundation to build off of)? So he's born out of death, yeah.and.??? I also wanted to know why his face is deformed, and why does he need those injections (I was assuming his face was in pain and that the injections were to subdue the pain). Was anyone else creeped out by the scene when he just starts gliding up the stair hand railings in the hidden section of the hotel??? What was the reasoning behind having the old man there? I know he was some sort of bridge between the old and the new, but for what? What real purpose did he solve other than to be a little creepy and then die an unfortunate death? I know I have so many more questions
CAN SOMEONE ELABORATE PLEASE??!!??!!??!!
Isnt it nice that we can come & post posts that are thought provoking or otherwise senseless? -

He is Jack Lusman, the owner/architect of the building. He's using the arcane symbols to turn the whole building into a massive spell to keep him alive long after he should have died. He screamed when the pipe fell because messing with the architecture of the building messes with the spell keeping him immortal- the reason why he's killing people is to stop the redevelopment of the hotel, which would break the spell and kill him- the disfigured face and pain he feels are probably due to the renovations. He's killing people both to give himself power and also to frighten people away- no new tenants means no need for further renovations
