Actually, when I saw Nick Broomfield's documentary Tracking Down Maggie, the way Margaret Thatcher's relationship with her son Mark was described reminded me a lot of this film. Though I doubt this film was based on them. Mark Thatcher went into business and arms dealing rather than politics but his doting mother got him out of trouble a few times.
