It's definitely "Daniella." That was a really good episode. Very thought provoking. Loved the 70s music, esp. KC & the Sunshine Band's "Please Don't Go." The ending was so sad. One of my favorite episodes of the entire series.

You are thinking of the Ally McBeal episode from season 1. Don't remember episode number or title but it was definitely first season- I remember in the finale, there was a montage that included the transgender girl.
