This movie looks really interesting and especially by the fact that it is directed by Gregg Araki, who directed my favorite movie White Bird In A Blizzard AND these two movies have the same music composers (not gonna lie, the score for WBIAB was amazing).
But what made this movie NC-17? I'm underage so I'm just curious. The IMDb page doesn't say anything why it's rated that.
WBIAB was rated R and definitely deserved that rating for the sex scenes, nudity, language and the thematic material. Is this any much worse?
If you do know why this one's NC-17, I wouldn't mind if you'd say it. Also maybe your opinion. And I'm not going to read the parents' guide cause spoilers

Very frank depictions of child molestation, a rather disturbing scene of a confused boy (molestation victim) performing a sex act on another young boy, a rather violent male rape scene, etc. The whole film revolves around material that most people would find uncomfortable, to say the least.

In Australia it was rated R for:high level child sexual abuse themes, high level sexual violence and pedophile theme. Which pretty much sums it up exept for other sexual acts of a more consenting nature. However in america the NC-17 is most likely down to a prolonged sequence at the end of the film involving sexually explicit duologue. Child molestation, other sex related activitys and rape are all discussed in depth, and implied visually in a much more suttle manner, never the less it was enough to earn that rating.
