The Stephanie character…

Stephanie is your stereotypical single california mother. she wants more for her child & would very much like to meet a good man who can take care of them.Good ole Jack charmed the knickers right off of her. He really fooled her.
The biggest thing she did wrong was hopping into the sack with him so soon! shoulda waited for a few more dates at the very least. a few wks. would be better. or longer!
She was wayyyyyyyyy too trusting, especially letting her daughter be held & tucked in by him! It's hard to believe that level of intimacy was established in just a few days. maybe that was the only unbelievable thing about the film. she wasn't altogether that classy or mature either~look at her mother!
Butit happens i'm sure. i shouldn't pass judgement on her so quickly; she probably learned a good lesson from the experience. live & learn. next time she won't be afraid to be a bit of a bitch & protect herself & daughter better. -

Sorry, but Stephanie is the reason I love this movie so much. I share the same first name with her, and have always really felt for her. I think I actually cheered the first time I watched it when she beat the crap out of Jack. I can't tell you how many men I'd have liked to do that to. lololol If that makes me a "typical" California woman, SIGN ME UP.

all of the characters are kind of messed up in the head a little except for Maya. miles is a depressed underachiever, jack is a horn dog suffering from mid-life crisis, and stephanie is promiscuous and naive. maya is the only one with her head on straight, despite the fact she may be a little overly passionate about wine making, lol.

It's weird that they made her mother 100% white. I have half-asian kids and they don't even look asian. I'm blonde and blue-eyed and my kids have light brown hair and brown eyes.
It would only make sense if her mother had adopted her. -

I too felt Steph was skanky but then felt sorry for her. She is a single mom, and watching "Uncle Jack" playing w her kid at the arcade, and acting like a father figure to her, and poor Steph is all beaming and has her hopes up - that was just cruel and unbearable to watch. No wonder she lost it and beat the crap out of the guy. The sense of betrayal was just too overwhelming.

I don't think that you have any basis to assume that her mother was married to the asian in question, nor that Stephanie merely had a kid with a black guy ( as opposed to having had a child while married to an African-American).

Haha. Wellif it weren't for the kid which she creepily involved with some man she doesn't even bother getting to know then I wouldn't call her that. Anyone who truly believes there is nothing at all wrong with her behavior where the kid is involved has some issues. I'm not saying everyone must label her a whore like I do but seriouslyacting that way with her child involved is just gross and awful. She's a woman "in control of her sexuality." Hilarious.
It wasn't me who was murdered, was it?
