    I really dislike Benett's Miller direction. his use of depression and anger with the direction of the shot put together, Somehow doesn't really statisfy me. There is this huge great build-up in his movies, I've seen Moneyball and Foxcatcher. I liked Moneyball but didn't like the way he directed it, I also didn't like Foxcather for the same reason.
    It doesn't give you the feeling your watching a thriller. A movie like spotlight made for me one of the best thrillers. I've been on the edge of my seat the whole time in that movie.
    Will this movie be better or worse? Your thoughts?

      It's def. not a thriller so don't expect to be on the edge of your seat during capote.
      It's a slow burning biopic. Personally, I like the way it was directed. It is mellow and majestic and it reminds me of money ball in that way.
      The mood is a little dark and depressing, more so than moneyball.
      Based on your o.p., I probably wouldn't recommend this movie to you butit is a solid film with great acting and cinematography. It's not the most gripping story, but it sure is beautiful to look at.

        I really didn't like money ball. It has great acting but I never really connected to the screen somehow. It's because of the way Moneyball was directed. Whenever there was an outbreak or something I didn't really care for it.

          Well, I get where you're coming from but, let's be honest, watching the film is simply a roughly 2-hour commitment, not like spending sevetal days reading a book by a writer whose work you don't like!
          I say, go for it Damn the torpedoes, jump off the cliff The worst thing you will most likely suffer is: 1) a couple hours of wasted time;
          2) having seen yet another film directed by someone whose work you dislike!
          And, on the other hand, you may be quite surprised to find that you actually like the film and that this director (who you don't care for) has done an oustanding job with his direction of this material. It's an amazingly beautiful if dark biopic with a very different
          slant on a deeply compelling, complex personality, Truman Capote, a truly amazing writer and his increasingly damaging journey into creating an extraordinary, powerful new genre of storytelling, fictional non-fiction.
          Let us know what you think after you've watched the film. I think you'll be impressed by the film and what the director did to make it such a renowned film. And, no matter what, you just can't beat the acting . . . Philip Seymour Hoffman left us with some of his very best work here. It's not to be missed!!!
