Well in the episode where they go floating down the Delaware River and April and Phil are all worried about them. In one of the last scenes you see April and Phil walking toward a boat to go out searching for them. April says something along the lines of they are looking for a viking ship and a big hotdog. In the back of the shot as they are walking to talk to the boat owners you can clearly see the hotdog canoe tied up against the pier. But in the next shot when they are actually in the hotdog canoe paddling. Then as they get off the hotdog canoe goes from being tied up to the pier to floating out in the water to it being tied up again.
But in the show they show these consecutive scenes as a storyline. Nothing is in between that interupts. So clearly they went back and filmed April looking for them.

It makes me laugh thinking about it

well anyone that thinks that any moment of the show is reality and isnt planned and at least partially scripted is as dumb as bam makes everybody on the show but himself out to be (and anyone that has also seen the movie HAGGARD knows that as far as acting goes bam has the LEAST talent of them all)
however if you view it as a mockumentary along the lines of SPINAL TAP, then your ok caz that is EXACTLY what it is and what makes it work

"A show that follows Bam Margera (of Jackass and CKY fame) in his attempts to anger his parents. Unlike CKY or Jackass, Viva La Bam focuses mainly on the torture of Bam's parents and less on harmful stunts."
I think he should concentrate more on harmful stunts, especially ones that involve potentially life-threatening situations and poor planning and health and safety. It's totally unfunny and it all seems scripted. April Margera is the worst actress ever. I can't believe anyone would watch more than one episode of this beep

Bam himself said it was 50% scripted 50% reality!

Every "reality show" has a basic plot outline the producers come up with before filming, but my guess is that nearly all of the dialogue is real

                      Yeah, you're right.
I mean, some stuff was written in to be funny ("get him a lifevest! no, a bigger one!") but they pretty much just came up with an idea ahead of time and rolled with it. A lot of the stuff that happened (the Icelandic guy taking them to another country just for beer, the car without brakes, Ape thinking the house blew up, Dico terrorizing Ape and Phil in the "Brazil" episode) was totally legit.
The DVD commentaries shed light on a lot of this, if you listen closely.
The only big contradiction in the commentaries is that they say quite a few times that Raab's mail order bride was legit, and talk about her in detail but a lot of people doubt that she was. (Someone - possibly Vito - allegedly claimed on Radio Bam that she was an actress; but I checked her out and she hasn't done anything else besides VLB.)

"Reality" shows like this one is a insult to peoples intelligence. The more shows you see, the more you can tell it's all fake and Bam is a unlikable actor, and a bad one at that.

brings me back to my original post - the show is a MOCKUMENTARY and not reality, regardless of whether they ad-lib dialog or not (and ad-libbing dialog is the 50% reality they mention, EVERYTHING else is scripted) unfortunately the underlining theme is Bam making everyone but himself out to be an idiot. and as seen on HAGGARD he holds back all the real acting talent - which is everyone else but himself. but I admit it is fun to watch, usually, as I myself am a big fan of the CKY videos

Everything is very conveniently filmed, just like any reality show that is at least a bit scripted.

April freaks out because she's supposed to, and all of the events are pre-planned. The voice-overs are always scripted, but it's not as scripted as a sitcom.

It's semi-scripted. They decide what they're going to d and how they're going to do things each episode, but there's no rehearsing and stuff. Basically, it's a half scripted, half improv.
