Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — The Black Dahlia

In the bedroom scene where Bucky asks Madeleine if she had told him everything about her relationship/interaction with Black Dahlia - after Madeleine confesses that she and BD did make love once - why did his mood shift so drastically? First he smiles and hugs her to him. But then, after looking closely into her eyes, he's suddenly angry and jumps out of bed, gets dressed to leave, all the while Madeleine is begging him to stay.
Was a scene cut? Did i miss something? What was revealed by her look?

When she started admitting the truth, he initially wasn't looking at her face, and so thought she was just joking. Then he turns toward her and sees her face, and realizes that she was not joking. That realization that she wasn't joking is why his mood shifted so drastically.

I was about to post my own thread but I saw this and I as well was confused on why his mood shifted so drastically. It's good to know I wasn't the only confused or lost about this scene. haha. I couldn't have explained it any better than the topic creator.
On that note, that makes sense NoPlankton but still kinda a bit dramatic IMO just cause she slept with another woman that looked like her. Funny enough, Dwight goes back to Madeleine after the money scene with Kay.

I could tell that he thought she was kidding him at first But my confusion stemmed from the fact that he first encountered her at a lesbian club, and maybe I missed something along the way, but based on that I sort of suspected that she was a lesbian or bisexual from the moment she was introduced..? I didn't understand why he didn't see that possibility from early on considering the circumstances surrounding their meeting. But this whole film was a bit difficult for me, so perhaps I lost some details along the the way.
