I wrote a short story in high school about a magical remote control.

When I was a high school senior in 1987, my mom and dad were arguing about something and my dad picked up the TV remote aimed it at her and hit the mute button. She asked what he was doing and he said "Damn, why doesn't this damn mute button work on you" I laughed hysterically. Now Im sure there had probably been a million husbands who did the same things to their wives during that time.
But that arguement gave me an idea for a 5 page story that I turned in as a creative writing assignment. Using the TV remote control and it having the power to pause, rewind and fast forward every day life. Some of the same ideas i wrote about were used in the movie. (pausing in slow motion when the hot girl was jogging, pushing pause to beat up his boss (only i beat up the shool bully in my story) things of that nature. a very simple idea but when I saw the movie 20 years later my mind jumped to when I wrote the story.

that's cool! You should write for movies. I've thought of a remote control to put background music to life kind of like how he had a commentary, that would be awesome. Also in this movie, Sandler would rewind and see himself in the past and he (with remote in hand) was like a ghost. My remote would just rewind and I'd be in my body to fix mistakes and stuff like that, do you know what I mean? I always wish I could just rewind and start over.

So I know I'm replying 3 years after your post, but I just saw the movie and thought it could have been WAY better. So much missed potential. You could still develop your own story and submit it to studios I'm sure you'd do a better job than what this crapfest turned out to be.
