Because there were no minorities in it. It's just how IMDb voters roll, unfortunately.

Adam Sandler is a minority. He's a Republican Jew.

Because people are allowed to have an opinion and enjoy a movie?

When you get older and watch this movie from the perspective of Henry Winkler's character it really hits home.

The reason why this piece of cinematic excrement is rated so high is simple: Usually when a movie is released, you have two sets of people rating it on the imdb boards- the people who loved it and gave it a high vote and the people who hated it and voted it down. The problem with this movie's rating is this: you have a lot of studio shills who will give it a '10' just to bump the rating up, but the movie was so bland and forgettable that all the people who normally would have rated it lower didn't even bother to because they probably forgot about it by the time they got home.
Usually people who downvote a movie do so to warn others to not make the mistake of wasting time watching it; but it's a waste of time to downvote an Adam Sandler flick because everyone already KNOWS what they're getting. The idiots who waste money watching an Adam Sandler movie deserve what they get. The only reason I even saw this flick was because I got it free as part of a gift pack (I live overseas and Adam Sandler is a byword for torture there). I'm convinced that the only reason Sandler's movies make money is because stupid parents need to dump their annoying, bratty kids off for two hours while they shop in peace at a mall and a Sandler flick is a good distraction. That's why so many of his R-rated movies flop; his core audience of dumb kids can't see the movies!
So basically the reason why this turd has a high rating is because while the studio hired their stooges to bump up the raring, the normal cinemas going audience who otherwise would have voted it down couldn't be bothered. Which explains the high rating. Hope that's helped you. P.S. You're right - this movie sucks the big one.

"I heard stories of Sandler also lining his pockets with the films budget."
I don't know about that; but I DO know that Sandler treats his movie shoots like one long vacation - that's why you see him in so many exotic places in his movies (50 First Dates, Just Go With It, Blended) - it's all just an excuse to take his family and buddies on an extended vacation. I also heard that he treats his fans with utter contempt - sure he'll act all "nice" when you ask for an autograph, but will laugh at the people who buy tickets to see his movies behind their backs as they're so easily pleased by mediocre fare that any second-rate hack comedian working at dead-end bar somewhere in one of the more grungier cities in America could do (and probably do better with half the cost). I've also heard that he's a complete jerk off camera but since he's part of an ethnic group that will label you an "Anti-semite" and destroy your career if you badmouth him, his bad behaviour is kept under wraps.
I also read a Variety article where William Goldman (a famous screenwriter in Hollywood) said that Adam Sandler was regarded as being THE biggest star in the world at that time (this was back in 1999) - why? Because his movies make the most PROFIT - quality and story-telling was not a consideration AT ALL. Goldman also continued to explain that Sandler was the recipient of good jobs due to ethnic nepotism that the "semites" in the movie industry give to each other; this was quickly interrupted by the interviewer who changed the subject. Oh, in a coincidence that same magazine reported that Bill Mechanic (The guy who greenlighted Titanic) was fired at Fox Studios for making a movie that did not earn a profit. The name of the flick in question? Fight Club. Ouch. This is what happens when you have lawyers and accountants running the film industry
This idiot and his pathetic movies (along with so-called "ghetto" culture and reality shows) have contributed to the dumbing down of the western world in the last couple of decades - yet he shows NO remorse, willingness to improve or even try to better himself. All the people he's helped are all horrid comedians themselves. I stand by my previous post: It's only dumb kids who are dumped into watching Sandler movies by their equally dumb parents while shopping at the mall who are responsible for his success - back in the '90s when options were limited, he had a captive audience. Now that guys who nobody has heard of make funnier skits on youtube, Sandler's days are numbered. The current millennial generation (who have access to tonnes of media through the internet) see him for the classless buffoon that he is. And you're right, it's disgusting that he takes his "fans" for granted by bloating the budgets for his movies. I'm sure there's SOME creative accountancy going on (the 'semites' in Hollyweird just LOVE to overcharge Sony, since it's owned by foreigners) but don't expect any of it to show up in the media any time soon!
