Do grenades have a timer, if not set off by impact?
I was confused how Ray managed to get the pins out but not have them blow up in his hand or when the butthole squeezed down on him.

Not sure how many types of hand grenades exist today, but in typical military movies/ shows, they usually explode about 3-4 seconds after they leave your hand - because that's also when the detonation lever is released.
You're gonna need a bigger boat.

After pulling the pin, you can hold a grenade all day as long as you hold the spoon.
