Remember when Susan was driving and collided with Dash's wife and daughter because one of the stop sign were down?
WTF was the reason for making up who the driver was just because her license was at home????? -

Mike and Susan weren't the smartest people, to be honest.
In all honesty, they should've just written it as her having had two glasses of wine or something. Her not having her license on her was the least of their concerns. -

Right at most not carrying your license on you might mean you have to show up at court, the police station or Town Hall and bring it with you. Maybe pay a minor fine for taking up the court's or clerk's time? The trip might not even be required.

I'm guessing the thought process was "What's a twist we can do but we want Dave to need a reason for revenge but also we can't make Mike and Susan look bad soooo" It doesn't make any sense nor does it come off as admirable Mike would "take the fall" because of that. Also in hindsight it sounds really selfish "are those mangled dead bodies in the other car? Wait let's decide how the blame should go down then let's see if that child is breathing before the cops come!"
Consider the daffodil. And while you're doing that I'll be over here looking through your stuff.
