I adored him in the first film, where I thought he was vastly underused. I was SUPER psyched that he would have a much bigger part this time around.
Then he has to go and completely break my heart!! Finds the girl of his dreams, totally loses his head about her, gets to know her so well (through their little hand moments), and like that she's gone.
I love Hellyboy and Liz, they're super cute but I wanna see ol' Abe getting the sugar. Doesn't look like that's going to happen any time soon.

I didn't like that she was killed off just for his development. That's cheap. And as you said they had a wonderful romance. I don't think she needed to die.
