isn't the ending completely pointless? the princess clearly knew she had a connection with her brother and if she was more than willing to go against her brother at the begining of the movie.
if she had simply killed herself the entire movie would have been pointless.

She didn't want to see her brother hurt. She was trying to stop him without killing him.
