If Liz was able to melt the crown so easily, abe should have just tossed her the piece he had to melt it and render the princes plan useless

If they did that, there would be no epic fight scene with the resurrected Golden Army.
Same goes for if Abe didn't bring along the piece, then the same thing would happen.
Or if Johann didn't let them get on a plan and got to Ireland.
