I never hear of it, it's never played on TV, it's not well regarded, there's barely any posts. I think it's Sam Mendes at his best. It's truly a great film, and incredibly well shot.

It's not unpopular. I think it's that kind of movie that people love to love secretly. It's hard to talk about it afterwards, because it has a personal qualityand it is very unique, so difficult to discuss in any obvious sense.
One of my favourite movies of all time.

The gulf war was over so relatively quickly, I think it shocked everybody as to how well it went. People were predicting another long, drawn-out Vietnam-type war.
The pundits declared that the U.S. had finally gotten over the Vietnam War and that the U.S. military was practically invincible.
In such an environment a movie about the difficulties of being in the U.S. military during the victorious Gulf War simply wasn't going to play that well. I think that is something that has stuck to this movie ever since. -

It's popular in some circles, groups, blogs, etc, IMO is not the kind of movie you would want to discuss a lot afterwards. BUT the movie has over 140k votes! I'm sure there were a lot of threads here. They have most likely been deleted for lack of replies or for something else.

I just recently saw it . I liked it, but like most war movies it was hard to watch at times and some of the more gruesome scenes were hard to shake. I actually had a bad dream about one of the scenes. I was also surprised to see there was not much discussion here.
