Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Extras

I know that Extras is full of implausibilities but I was never convinced by the way Andys smarmy rival Greg rose to movie leading man status. He couldent exactly be described as good looking with that round pudding face and lank greasy looking hair.

Don't worry, some of us knew exactly what you meant. And yes, just another one of the farcical elements of this show. Can't believe people honestly think it was better written than The Office.

Perhaps he was actually a good actor and worked hard?

I agreeit was the ultimate kick in the teeth for Andy but Greg definitely lacked film star looks.

The end result of the whole programme wasn't to show that Andy was better than Greg. It was more a case of Andy was so obsessed with being famous and successful like Greg that he forgot his own morals and aspirations.

He does seem smarmy but we only ever see him in the presence of Andy, so it's quite possible that he's a lot nicer around other people. In the Ben Stiller episode he was even good enough to advise Maggie that she was entitled to some extra payment for her improvised acting.
