Stella - hated that whole story arc.

I do agree actually. I didn't like Stella at all. The annoying story arc behind her "she didn't say no" kind of thing was lame and taking her on the 30 second date. She wasn't worth all that creativity, especially in hindsight. I hated seeing Ted being so obsessed with her when I found nothing about her (except maybe her being a professional and holding a steady job) that appealing. Also I don't like Sarah Chalke, she's a pretty bad actress. She was awful on Roseanne and I didn't like her here which is what casting's mission was the entire time, when it came to her end game when
she left Ted at the alter
As much as I hate to admit it, and it sounds so simple, I think I hated all of the failure love stories of Ted's because they were just a waste of time.
I think this is the part of the show that just made me annoyed because instead of it being about the group, it was a story told to his kids about how Stella and the others didn't work out? Weird

You saying that Abby was the far better choice might make sense for you, but that's so not Ted. Of course he would prefer the smart, funny doctor that challenges and teases him. Stella is definitely not my favourite character, but she is exactly the kind of woman that Ted would think is the one.

Abby did not offer any substance other than being "hot." I think if an unknown, plain Jane played Abby, people would not have thought twice about her. She got away with being irritating because it was Britney Spears and she brought in viewers. I was not a Stella fan either but still would have preferred Ted with Stella.

I didn't have a problem with Stella for the most part. The issue I always had was she never seemed like she was that into Ted. And then she has this wild impulse to marry him. I did think it was brilliant for the writers to have her leave him at the altar. Better then using the old "kill her off" arc.
