Looked so good in this movie. It still kills me every time during his death scene. It's like dammit! He should've lived!!!

I've always thought this movie was to 28 Days Later as Aliens was to the original Alien - that is, bring in the army!
And similar to the Jim Cameron Aliens, there's this bittersweet potential love story that ends up not coming to pass, as in Biehn and Weaver in Aliens, and maybe Doyle and Scarlet here, given they were both determined to do what it takes to save the world.
But then, that was what happened, wasn't it. "Their (the kids') lives are more important than mine and yours."

Oh I was upset about Doyle dying, because he was a good man. Instead of blindly following orders, he rescues the kids, Scarlet and some others, trying to get them to safety. And then when it comes down to him or them, he makes the ultimate sacrifice. Jeremy's performance was fantastic.

^This. Very cool character that wouldn't have had half its charm without the innate charisma of Jeremy Renner. One of the coolest soldiers ever depicted in film, IMO.

At least Dyle went out in a heroic manner.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.
