In the opening scenes, the type of thick strong wood boarding used to enclose the area they were hiding in would take the velocity of a motorized vehicle to break through yet the zombies broke it with a swipe. But it only takes a swift kick or 2 to get them off you? Does this make sense?

On the contrary, I don't think the boarding over the windows etc. was meant to be particularly strong. The intention really wasn't to keep out an invading horde of zombies, it was meant to block out the light and activity, inside, so the dope-headz couldn't see it and figured it was just an abandoned house.
Remember the scene early, in the first movie, when the hero had a lit candle that the dope-headz saw flickering from the street, and that's why they burst into the house.

Even in the first movie, that type of residential glass is pretty solid and flexible and in some cases at least .22 caliber proof. Well it is a zombie flick so yeah they can do stuff that defies some logic.

i kinda agree and disagree with both of you, i agree that what the zombies break to get in wasn't that big, they are simply rage agents and therefore probably don't have the same level of inhibition a normal person would - hence less pain thresholds.
I disagree about the candle as it was broad daylight outside, they wouldnt see that, only at night would that be visible. The zombies were chasing the boy, as he explained when he got in the farmhouse - not only that but they would have heard him screaming anyway. This would have attracted the zombies to the area and property and when the daft blonde one looked outside, a zombie happened to be there

Was talking about the first movie, which you may not have seen? Anyway, it was a scene, at night, when the candlelight through the window attracted the z-heads to break right through the window.
