It's kind of amazing when you compare this performance to, let's say, his role as Gordo in Fury.

He's back for another round. They announced it last month.

Easily the worst part of the movie, and that's saying a lot.

The van scene in the beginning was hilariousand Paul Rudd's facial expression looking at him.

Paul Rudd's facial expressions and pure mannerisms matched Pena's and both may be the best in the business at it. RDJr is also a master.
            I accept your surrender.

Back it up, back it up slowly, back it up.

I thought the best thing about him was his facial expressions after saying all of those lines mentioned in this topic. He just had a stupid look to his face and it was hilarious.
But my favorite line of his was
                  Luis: I'm in the syssstem?
TI (Points at him): You're the in the system.
                  Luis: the system.

I didn't care for him in Shooter or End of Watch but those were both more because of his character, rather than him. He was hilarious in this.
I watched this on TV immediately after Avengers 2 (which I'd already seen), and enjoyed it immensely more. Why? Because it's goofy and it knows it. Avengers, and most other Marvel movies take themselves too seriously, but then awkwardly cram in lame, unfunny one-liners at literally a rate of at least 2 per minute.

That, and the fact that Luis really,
                      really
wants to be a stereotypical Latino "gangsta". But then he makes fantastic waffles, goes to wine tastings, art exhibits and comes up with the idea of playing a character who has the habit of whistling, during the heist.
                      Luis is just so
                      cool
                      .
It was so facepalm-worthy when El Mayimbe put the character down for being a stereotype Latino gangsta. Talk about not understanding a character.
Quidquid Latinae dictum sit, altum viditur.

Actually, it's HELLA BAY, to go wine tasting (being within an hour proximity to Sonoma & Napa). It also looked like their apartment was in the Tenderloin so definitely close to downtown; walking distance to the Symphony and a 10 min bus ride to catch those art exhibits. Lol!!

I think he's a very good actor, but here he was made ridiculous comic relief. I was embarrassed for him.
