I love this film, especially how it's stylistically built. It's very aesthetic appealing for me and then I wonder if you have any tips about films with similar style? I love these deep characters, the raw and honest portrayal and all that. I'm so beep tired of all those refined and boring hollywood films without characters, without stories, without soul.
    Thanks!

Check out the other films by Shane Meadows.
There's also an Italian film called Gomorrah which is possibly the grittiest film I've ever seen. Watch that too. The guy above me said NEDS, which is a good suggestion, as is Sweet Sixteen, another Scottish film. London to Brighton is pretty good and gritty. Basically any British film other than Harry Potter lol.

Alan Clarke's Made In Britain and Scum are quite similar in substance and style (they're also from around the era when This Is England was set).

Meantime from Mike Leigh is set around the time of the film of This is England about a family living in a tower block all on the dole, it's got Phil Daniels (Quadrophenia) and Tim Roth as a pair of brothers and Gary Oldman plays a skinhead who's a friend of theirs.
Great film, can tell that Shane Meadows definitely drew some inspiration from it when making This is England.

Although all three movies are about skinheads and are from different countries from each other. But Romper Stomper(Australia), American History X(U.S.A.), and This is England(U.K.)all have the same exact ending sequence. Before the end credits to each movie appear, the ending sequence is shot on a beach. Just watch all three movies and you will see this other similarity that all three movies share with each other.

It just reminded me a skinhead version of Skins.

I have to second the suggestion of Romper Stomper, a rather bleak film about skinheads in Melbourne starring Russell Crowe as Hando, a formidable and very scary skinhead. It was on YouTube last time I checked.

As aforementioned, Fish Tank. Very heart-warming final scene in my eyes. And Kids if you haven't watched it already. Once I saw Kids I had to watch all of Larry Clark's films because I'd never seen such authentic realism in an American film.
