Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — This Is England

Perhaps it was about the human destruction between the two forces one could mirror that with Woody and Combos group. Does mankind choose to follow Woody and avoid conflict or must we prove our masculinity and follow Combo. Commbo does emphasize a masculine world of domination by violence and bullying and this is compared to Britain's macho bullying of the Argentines.
And then as a result what kind of world are we left with. First Shaun a young boy left to face adolescence without a father and so he latches onto Combo as a father figure and Combo in turn saw Shaun as an apprentice as well as someone to boost his ego all this led to an explosion of violence when Combo unable to control his jealously of Milky beats the beep out of him, which lead Shaun to start questioning Combos values as well as his own view of the world.
we are left w/ a world of fatherless children and men who see violence as a means to an end, which really can never end well so its up to today's generation (Shuan) to start changing it.

Haha. Rudy is Woody. My sister calls him Rudy, because she first saw him on Misfits.
