This is my favourite film of all time. Why? Not because its a "massively suspenseful thriller", because we all know its not. Its my fav film just because of the teen Shia plays in this, he plays it so well. The character "kale" is like an idol to me, I can relate to the character so much. I love it when I can relate to films, and the first half for me just seems like a perfect teen life, minus the house arrest and father dying.

at most? nah i thought it was pretty good a lot of average movies get high ratings because people didnt expect that much. 7 is fine by me. i dont know why imdb is a joke for the 7 rating though when its the people that rate it. not imdb

Hero- and lovefantasy of brooding, angsty, bored, self proclaimed non-conformist, suburban teenage geeks without a fatherfigure.
Seems it was about making the fantasy as relatable as possible, not caring too much about plotholes or realism or making interesting characters.
4/10
Cool seeing Carrie-Anne Moss again thou. Too bad her character was flat as something flat. -

I gave it an 8. I've watched this movie so, so many times, and it just isn't getting less enjoyable for me. It never drags on, it has plenty of suspense (the first few watches, anyway), a bit of comedy, and it's somewhat geared towards teenagers in just the right way. Does not make me want to throw up, as with most teenage movies. It's like a John Hughes thriller! One of very few recent movies aimed at people around my age that I actually like.
I'm glad we're all different. Keeps things interesting.
