After seeing this I immediately thought of Amelie too..
beautiful little film. It's truly sad how many of these films just pass over Western audiencesfor example I usually have to fight with people for ages to convince them to watch Oldboy with me, so many people hate reading subs and I generally refuse to watch most dubs. Once they see it they're in love, but getting them to sit down and watch through it takes hours of convincing

I just got done watching this film on the Sundance Channel. I feel that this film has a very similar style to "Bubba Ho-Tep" just in the way the main charaters in both films try to help each other with his or her problems in ways the doctors and nurses can not

Tky zonbi (Tokyo Zombie) (2005)

"Two dim-witted garage employees do battle with the legions of the undead after a massive trash dump in Tokyo starts spawning zombies in this outlandish horror comedy starring Tadanobu Asano and Show Aikawa."
These two come to mind straight away, though I couldn't quite explain why or how they're similar. But I get the feeling you'll like these like I did, as well as I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK.
[EDIT]
I just had to add this. I love the movie so much, as does my whole family. I challenge anybody to watch it through and not to love it also
Blinkende lygter (Flickering Lights) (2000)

I recommend 'Barking Dogs Never Bite' (Korean), and 'Big Man Japan' (Japanese, obviously). They're both goofy and funny, but the former sometimes gets VERY dark, especially if you're a PETA person^, and the latter is a spoof of giant monster movies with strangely pornographic-looking monsters (whaddaya expect, it's Japanese^). And a couple of other Korean movies, 'Castaway on the Moon', a funny but touching oddball movie about a pair of oddballs, and 'Going by the Book', which is charmingly outrageous, if that makes sense.
