Not even close. Sure, if you just look at the US market, but that is really completely irrelvant these days, at least by itself. The worldwide take is what winds up deciding how successful a film ultimately is and Avatar still destroys Star Wars on this front. So nice try, but sorry no cigar. Avatar is still #1 and by a pretty large margin. Star Wars simply wasn't nearly as successfu as Avatar in overseas box offices and thus nowhere near as successful as Avatar overall. Again, looking at just the US market is pretty irrelevant in the modern box office.

Well , here are some memorable lines that I remember :
Sigourney Weaver : Get away from me , you blue alien b!tch ! ( mimic her own line in 1986 Aliens movie )
-zero sadana : why did you call me to the middle of the forest in the middle of the night ?
-sam worst thing ton : Im a sick , perverted human so I get attracted to fugly "blue monkeys" like you instead of normal pretty human girls . I want to do something really fun with you .
-zero sadana : NNNOOO , please dont rape me . I can offer some of my best friends to you instead , like the girl Dfwuesmx is a good hunter , or Jstrmkerf is very cute , meaning she is less fugly than me on "blue monkeys" 's standard .
-sam worst thing : But I only want your body . And because we are savage animals , we will do it before wedding , without any protection/contraception , and in the forest .
Next morning :
-zero sadana : No , they destroyed my tree , now I have to use other trees as toilets .
-sam worst thing : Quit you eternal b!tching , you b!tch . Just plant another tree and stop crying over "spilled tree" . I raped you last night so you are my b!tch now , so listen to me .
-zero sadana : Because your friends destroyed my toilet , so it is clearly your effing fault . Eff off , I dont want to see your fugly face again .
-sam worst thing : Dont worry , I will betray my superior white human race and help your inferior "blue monkeys" race to kill every single one of human for destroying one single tree .
Other worse dialogues are :
-zero sadana : You dumb animal , because you made so much noise in the forest so I was forced to kill another dumb animal to save your life .
-sam worst thing : Quit you eternal b!tching , you dumb animal . Maybe you should just let me die , that way , I dont have to listen to your b!tching anymore . -

Never in my life have I heard anyone quote any of those lines or scenes. Not among friends, not on Saturday Night Live, nowhere. Some of those lines.. I don't even know what the corresponding scene to those is.
But you tell someone "Remember that Joe Pesci scene from Goodfallas, you know the funny like a clown scene.."
Almost everyone knows that. -

See, you may not even like Star Wars but 33 years later you still know the lines and music from Return of the Jedi. That illustrates my point exactly. We're barely 7 years removed from Avatar and what are we left with? The biggest box office of all time and no memories, no cultural impact.

I love the first two star wars including the line and music you misplace.
But comparing the impact of series of movies to one is disingenuous. And like others have said avatar was a visual theatrical experience. It had the best legs of any movie this century for a reason people were/are in awe. The dialog was mediocre to crap and the story derivative. Just like the first star wars -

But why do the lines from that series have such staying power while nobody seems to quote Avatar?
For the third time:
Series
vs
one film
And in any case, would anyone debate that SW is the biggest movie franchise? Or even arguably the biggest entertainment franchise overall? Noone would argue that Avatar, or ET, or Sound of Music, or any other single film anomaly is more remembered, more quoted (especially by fanboys like me) etc.
I don't rememremember a single line from ET or SoM off the top of my head either

I still think I'm right. No one can look past the CGI, the beautiful settings, the effectiveness of the 3D to fully appreciate Avatar for its story and humanity. Nothing is commonplace yet.
Except one or two lines like, "Where's my goddamn cigarette?" -

I am old enough to remember how the line "ET phone home" was EVERYWHERE in the 1980's. It was quoted, spoofed, parodied endlessly for about a decade. That one line achieved pop culture status, which is what this thread is about. -

Speak for yourself. I am left with memories of the single most enjoyable time I have ever had at the box office, hands down. I went with a group of 6 the first time and we literally left the theatre speechless we were so in awe. And I remember the film just as well as any other film I have ever watched and I have watched it many more times on home theater. It doesnt have to have any super memorable one liners or quotes. I honestly couldn't care less about such things. Its the expereince as a whole and the story as whole that matters to me, not small bits of memorable dialogue and Avatar remains to this day this single best expereince I have ever had in the theater. In fact, nothing else has come close to matching it. It brought a new meaning to the word epic and blockbuster and shattered pretty much every record that existed.
So you go on believing that Avatar had no lasting effect on people because it didn't have any super memorable quotes. Even tho I consider that about as absurd of a premise as one could possible have in regards to films, that is your opinion and your entitled to it. The key here is YOUR opinion. You do not speak for some large percentage of the movie going public. You speak for yourself and nobody else and I for one disagree 100% with you. Again, Avatar is easily one of the most momorable films I have ever seen and the fact that there aren't any super memorable one liners or quotes doesn't change that one bit. In fact, its a testament to the film that it didn't need anything like that to be remembered. Avatar will be long remembered for other aspects of the film. Having super memorable one liners is not what dictates what is or isn't a succcessful or memorable film.
