to return to the main topic..hmmmm i did not think of other actors who can play this role, but i thought crowes acting is just not that good. another thought i had while watching is, that since a beautiful mind he somehow plays every role a bit in the same vein (sure, didnt see every singel movie with him). You know, that kind of somehow dumb person, with that sad dog eyes and whos life is ruined by other persons. just my thoughts while watching.

I don't think Pitt is overrated, he is actually a pretty good actor. Many great films in his career and some very strong performances as well.
About Richie Roberts, Russell Crowe was really great in that role. One of his most overlooked turns.
This is - excuse me - a damn fine cup of coffee. -

Actually I think Russell did a good job in this movie. He even looks like the real Det. Roberts. When I was watching the extras I saw Richie Roberts and I thought "If Russell Crowe eats enough burgers he will look like this guy in 15 years or so"

RusselL If you're going to criticize his acting, at least spell his name corectly! He is awesome in everything and anything, by the way

Hell no! Russell Crowe is the best actor out there. Every role he takes he creates more out the character. Detective Richie Roberts was potrayed by Russell Crowe, and the performance was astonising. Crowe's the best!

What are you guys talking about? The reason why i like this movie so much is because of Russell Crowe. Denzel delivers another solid performance like he has done quite a few times but Crowe is what made the movie for me.

Caught an edited version on AMC today the exchange between Crowe and Washington in prison at the end, after Washington's character was nailed, was one for the ages. In real life, Frank Lucas was very charismatic. Denzil nails it.

Bought the DVD from Asda (only 3!) and watched it this evening. Personally I thought Russel Crowe was outstanding in it and a lot of the time carried the film. Perhaps that is a bit harsh because the supporting cash was excellent but I did think Crowe was brilliant. He is a very versatile actor. If anything I would say it was the other lead, Denzel Washington, that was the weak link.

In a word, nope! Sorry SpyderPig, no cigar for you.
Rusty was well cast, and performed well in the role as Richie. No surprises here, and no trace of his native accent (New Zealand) either.
If you want to have ALL the good actors replaced, then who makes the cut for replacing Denzel Washington Snoop Dog? (or whatever handle he goes by this week).
(Denzel W. is one of my most admired actors by the way).
Pleaaaase., this movie was made with a better than decent cast. Not a 100% perfect film, but like the saying says, if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it, and there's little point in trying to re-invent the wheel.
Cheers,

LOL. THey would have preferred Snoop, because it would be more to their expectations. Denzel was superb and always bring it to a higher level and he does represent progress to be deterred. When a movie about a Black gangster does not involved ham handed behavior and ebonics is like some kind of personal threat to some of these commentors. It is as though they've been given insight into just how intelligent some of these Black heads of crime families truly operated, beyond the negative filter. It creates chaos in what they've been told and lead to believe about Black criminals.
President Obama did the same thing when he put into operation his ground game during the 2008 campaign season and ran circles around the white power structure that had dominated for hundreds of years. Well, they are going to teach that uppity ass a thing or two this campaign. They've studied his ground game for the last three years and are using it to run their campaigns, LMFAO. They can't win without cheating so the number of voter suppression laws on the books are one for the record. They have no pride and sold their dignity and are hellbent to win by any means necessary.
The racist etch-a-sketch Mitt Romney who would never hire a Black person, since he has such contempt for them, is using the community organizers game plan for his own. Mitt Romney lacks ideas and is by no means a visionaryhell even his answers are a spin on whatever President Obama says. He's a copy.
Lord, I've lost my thread. LMFAO. I need sleep.
