I just sat down to binge watch Dexter for the first time. OMG, Carpenter is so strange and annoying. It's mainly the way she speaks, very nervous and choked off. I'm probably the only person who is bothered by her - but 94 episodes to go.

She was great until she ask that her character be killed offdid she think she owned that character? She didn't and there was no reason to kill her off. They should have allowed her to accept Dexter and be his partner in crime, as needed.

Well, Harrison Ford had been trying to kill off Han Solo since 1977 and finally succeeded in 2015. He had much less investment in that character on screen, so I imagine after 8 years, an actor should have some say in their character.

I also just binge watched Dexter from beginning to end. Of all the actresses, on all the series, she is by far the BEST actress of them all. She LIVED that role.
In fact, I'm shocked she didn't get her own series when all was said and done.
Your post is soooo annoying. -

It's not a matter of liking "her" or not. She is a very talented actress. I enjoy watching "talent".
You have a chemical or personal issue with her. Perhaps she reminds you of someone you don't care for. There are actors I can't stand to watch also. Like Tatum Channing for example. I can't even read his name without getting nauseous. lol. Just the fact that he decided to become an actor annoys me, because I am forced to avoid movies I might have liked if it weren't for the fact that he is in them.
However, I wouldn't go to his IMDB page, or an IMDB page for a movie he was in, and bitch piss the guy because I personally have an issue with him.
Also, to blame her "performance" on whether or not you binge watch the show or not, has nothing to do with her talent as an actress. It's "all about you". -

Funny, that's how I feel about your OP.
Nothing personal, I was just trying to provoke you into confessing the real reason you find JC offensive and annoying.
It wouldn't have attracted my attention so much if you were talking about Kenneth Brannah, or someone else I find talent-less, but Jennifer Carpenter is a well trained, truly talented actress who had to work with her ex-husband for years after they were divorced, making believe she loved the guy, after he cheated on her when they were married. She was so convincing in her role as the adopted sister that fell in love with her psychopath brother, it was a beautiful performance to watch.
Also, just for your info, I don't find Jennifer Carpenter attractive. I just love her talent. If anyone should have annoyed you on that show, it should have been Michael Hall. His limited range of emotion and acting skills were sometimes a real bore to watch. Loved the series however.
P.S. Don't have such thin skin on these boards.you won't have any fun.
I'll go back and remove the offensive phrase. I really didn't mean to come off nasty. -

I don't see any staff member badge in my profile. I would have been fired for edgy rhetoric. If you want to have a conversation with me, you should move it to the private message area. It would be more fair to others whom may not wish to be reading a non subject related conversation.
Actually, I just read your OP again. It really isn't so bad. I exaggerated your post as being more of a put down on someone I find very talented.
Also, I thought you said you just got done binge watching Dexter, but you only had watched two episodes at that point. You have no idea how great that series gets as it matures and finds itself. You should do this: You already know that Dexter is the killer of the serial killers, so I suggest you bite your tongue and try to put up with your dislike for JC, and skip to season 7. That is my favorite year. Then you'll see how the show has progressed, and you can either go back to where you left off, or pop in year 8 and be done with it.
I'll bet you'll like the improved JC in the later episodes. Good luck.
