The average human walking speed is 3.1 miles per hour so it actually takes an hour. Had Reacher been running on world record time, it would still have taken him at least 13 minutes to run 3 miles.

That's 8 minute miles (7.5 mph). You can walk that speed? I think the fastest speed walkers in the world top out a little over 5 mph, so you're quite gifted.
