True, I just assume it's an American accent since he spends 99% of his time in the books in America, and plus the last time I heard an 'unspecific' accent was in 'Highlander', when the French actor playing the Scottish character claimed he was from 'lots of different places', so I can't really think of an unspecific accent.

You gave a good example with Lambert. Reacher would have more of an American accent than him,of course, but one that wouldn't be tied to a specific area, like New York accent, Boston, southern etc. That is why a non-American actor would work best, since he would be coached into a generic accent, like Jackman as Wolverine.

I get that, and that's the kind of accent I imagine. I should clarify that I'm British and have only met a handful of Americans in my life, so although I know there's different accents for different states, I do just tend to think of a generic 'American' accent whenever I imagine Reacher speaking. Like you said, with Jackman playing Wolverine, that's the kind of accent I imagine, just 'American'.

Totally agree - Chris Hemsworth in about 5 years time. That gives enough for a reboot and by then he'll be/look old enough.
Chris is 6ft 3in, very built and often has dark blonde hair. So very similar to Reacher's 6ft 5in (Chris could use lifts in his shoes) 250 pounds with blue eyes and dark blonde hair.
