Why doesn't Oscar voters take this in to consideration when thinking about best picture? When you leave the cinema absolutely smiling like you did with Avengers that should count for something.
Yes, if in the past they could nominate films like "Star Wars", "Raiders Of The Lost Ark", and all 3 "LOTR" films, then they should've made room for "The Avengers" in this year's Best Picture nominees. What a waste not to recognize such a thoroughly and unbashedly entertaining movie like this.

Or movies like Jurrassic Park, The Matrix or TDK. I can do that too.

It was a lot of fun.
As much fun as Dredd or Django Unchained? No, but still fun.

Django - Way too long, way too self-important.
Dredd - Die Hard meets Robocop.
          Phil Coulson
          does
          simply walk into Mordor.

What I meant was that those two phrases were what I was thinking either while I was watching the movies or immediately afterward.
During Avengers, what I was thinking was, "Wow, I can't believe he's pulling this off!"
Much more fun and original than the other films.
Not as much blood, though, which seems to be what those two films have in common.
              Phil Coulson
              does
              simply walk into Mordor.

That is so true and add the fact that is was a tedious three hours at the cinema. Not many enjoyed the experience of Django.

Django got 8.5 rating on IMDB, so how can you conclude not many enjoyed it?

The Lord of the Rings still rules, but this is up there.
The Avengers is a little better than The Matrix, because its absurdities are fun, while some of the stupid things in The Matrix are fun and good, but human beings as batteries kept purely for their electrical production is just stupid.

It was one of the most fun for sure but I've had some that were better. Seeing Jurassic Park twice back in 1993 when I was 6 was out of this world.

I was older than 6 but Jurassic Park was a blast to watch at the cinema. Are you going to the 3D IMAX re-release of it this year?

It was for me because I went to the marathon. Seeing it with a bunch of hard-core marvel fans that got every little joke was so enjoyable.

The Lord of the Rings was good but hardly thrilling. It was epic but in a massive bulky way.

Both times I saw this the cinema was pretty empty (lunchtime opening day and then the following saturday), so it wasnt really as much of an experience as it sounds like some of you had.
For me, the first time I saw TDK wins by a mile. It was my first time seeing a feature film in 70mm IMAX, and it was just mesmerising.

If you pay attention at every moment, you form a new relationship to time. In some magical way, by slowing down, you become more efficient, productive, and energetic, focusing without distraction directly on the task in front of you. Not only do you become immersed in the moment, you become that moment.

Thanks, mill. The Artist and a few other pre-2012 films are on the list because I go by Australian release dates. Unfortunately we get some things quite late.
