Teeheehee. NO.
Horror movies are my number one genre. I never said the blood and guts were something i (or others) couldn't handle. Merely stating that this was just a gorefest for gorehounds.
Go enjoy wacking it to severed limbs, live up to your name. -

This kind of movie exists just to please "gore hounds" and other assorted movie fans looking for pointless violence. Hey, i enjoy a good stylish killing on my movies like anybody else, but as someone already said violence without a good cause and effect can be quite pointless, and in the case a movie so desperate to show how "edgy" it can be (like this one) it can be quite annoying.

Indeed you are a poor person, if you think this is all horro genre has to offer you havent been beyond the hyped crap. There are many horror movies which has great performance, stories, characters. Its just not movies like this.

and many many more show that horror CAN offer a BIT more than what you tag with horror. It's not all Friday the 13th, slashing and blood, and I don't even consider those "new french horror films" as really horror. Rather ultra-voilant psycho thrillers. My opinion.

sorry, but this movie is NOT pointless!!!
the point/twist of the film in fact is: the mother try to protect her baby, but she can not protect her baby! she try to say to the unborn baby: everything will be good, but nothing will be good in this whole crazy world!
the partens take the decision:
WE WANT A BABY! And WE WILL BE HAPPY for the rest of our beautiful life!!! its normal for people to think positiv and to have some hopes and dreams!
AND this is the POINT and the FAILURE in peoples mind!
nothing will be good. the baby will be born in a bloody and crazy world! no protection and no future for the baby! this is the real life - exaggerated to tell.
and this is the point of the film. end.

Actually I don't think that is the point of the film. Sarah is obviously not really happy about her pregnancy and is not too fond of the aspect of having a baby. She probably was, before her boyfriend / fiancee died in the car accident. But, at the time she is being terrorized in her house, the other woman, the crazy one, seems even more protective of the baby than the mother herself does. Sarah is bent on her own survival rather than that of her child. She even threatened the baby's life at one point in order to survive.
Also, I do not at all agree with your nihilistic point of view about reality. It is perfectly possible to have a baby and live with your family and be completely satisfied and happy with it. I'll even go so far and say that for most of us fortunate people, who have nothing better to do but browse imdb and write stuff on forums, the possibility of a happy, peaceful life is very likely and can easily be achieved.
I don't know where you're from, but where I live children can be protected from from a lot of bad things and not only the parents but also the state does what can be done to ensure every child has the prospect of a good life and future so I honestly can't see how this "no protection, no future" view applies to real life in industrialized countries (which France belonged to last time I checked :P) -

I thought it was a good flick. I am a fan more of suspense(funny games) than gore
when it comes to horror but I thought this one had a nice development. The point of her being crazy for babies and trying for so long to only have it ripped away was the last straw for her. I think it had some really powerful scenes that were more suspense then over the top gore.
The knock on the door and the dialog right after it
the knocking on the windows and the camera flashing shown from the outside
the awakening with her in the room
the scene with the cop or whomever(been a while) where he thinks shes the mother
These hit right on the money for me during the viewing, I dont think many horror fans get scared much but you can appreciate the creepiness and the way the story unfolds. I seen it with little knowledge of it so I didnt get the overhype that may have happened. Most people when hyped about a movie seem to be alot more judging of it (me included). I force myself to think every movie is gonna be horrible that way I dont have any expectations now and end up enjoying them more, Like Sherlock Holmes as of late. -

So what if Sarah is more protective of herself than her unborn baby! Sorry but the mother's life comes before some unborn fetus's life and Sarah thought that maybe if she threatened to harm the baby or kill it that the crazy bitch would leave her alone, wouldnt work obviously, but I think she was so desperate for her life at that point she thought maybe it would work. I think she thought that if she killed the fetus inside her that maybe the bitch would have no reason to kill her or she was using it as a way to control the woman. I did feel a lot of sympathy for Sarah, she just lost her husband and was depressed.

The problem isn't violence itself. It's the combination of gore with a stupid storyline.
Gore works well in films like
Saw
, which are all about endurance or punishment. But such a soppy plot like a woman torturing in revenge for losing her baby is just dumb. -

im glad im not the only one who thinks this.. how the hell do foreign films keep getting these high ratings? Hostel which actually has a story behind it and has this type of gore has a lower rating. I think that we Americans are harder judges on our own films, Europeans think that their films are all masterpieces and we have idiot americans that think that its a good thing when a movie confuses you such as this film. its just puzzling because of the points you pointed out
